Brazil – Copag retains the rights to WSOP licence

By - 29 March 2017

Copag, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of playing cards, has successfully extended its contract with the World Series of Poker (WSOP) brand to continue manufacturing and marketing licensed playing cards for the brand.

Copag, which has been part of Cartamundi since 2005, will produce the plastic playing cards using the same raw materials and processes used to produce the tournament cards. Copag will market the playing cards to Brazil and the wider Latin American region. In other parts of the world, such as Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, Cartamundi will be responsible for its sales.

The company’s partnership with WSOP saw Copag provide the decks of cards for last year’s WSOP tournament.

Executive Director of WSOP, Ty Stewart, said: “Putting quality cards on the game tables in WSOP is one of the most important elements of the event.”

Mariana Dall’Acqua, Marketing Director at Copag, added “Having these playing cards with a very renowned brand in our portfolio is really important to poker players.”
