Chile – Chile’s casino GGR up over 12 months

Gross Gaming Revenue for the casinos operating in Chile including the seven municipal casinos stood at of $37,150m in December 2016, a cumulative real growth rate of 2.1 per cent in the last 12 months and a monthly variation of plus 0.8 per cent compared to the same month last year.

According to the Chilean Gaming Control Board (SJC) Gross Gaming Revenue for the casinos which already come under the supervision of the SJC stood at $25,276m and made up 68.0 per cent of the total – this is a positive monthly variation of minus 1.9 per cent compared to the same month in 2015 but an accumulated real growth of 1.2 per cent over the last 12 months.

The number of visitors to the non municipal casinos in December stood at 471,290 – 5.1 per cent more than in December 2015 recording an accumulated growth rate of 0.8 per cent over the last 12 months. On average visitors spent $53,632 pesos each minus 6.7 per cent compared to December 2015 and recording an accumulated real growth in terms of expenditure of 0.8 percent over the last 12 months. Meanwhile, total visitors to the municipal casinos (not including the casino in Puerto Varas which does not record this information ) stood at 241,055 for the month of December. However data for average visitor spend to the municipal casinos is still unavailable for the municipal casinos.

The amount gambled in December via the 10,452 gaming machines that were in operation in the 17 non municipal casinos amounted to $352,194m. The prizes paid to players reached $331,295m, which was 94.1 per cent of the total amount wagered. As a result, gross win stood at $20,899m.

The municipal casinos, which still come under the supervision of the local governments where they operate, reported $11,873m gross revenues – 32.0 per cent of the total industry. This reflected an accumulative real growth of 3.2 per cent over the last 12 months and a real monthly variation of 5.5 per cent compared to December 2015.

In terms of gross gaming income generated by the casinos of the total Monticello Sun came in first place with 17.2 percent ($6,408m). Casino de Viña del Mar came in second place with 12.7 per cent ($4,699m), and Marina del Sol Talcahuano came in third place with 8.9 per cent ($3,293m). Casino Rinconada recorded 8.3 per cent ($3,075m).Coquimbo 6.3 per cent ($2,350m). Enjoy Antofagasta 6.1 per cent ($2,283m). Casino de Iquique 4.9 per cent ($1,822m).Dreams Temuco 4.7 per cent ($1,742m). Dreams Punta Arenas 4.0 per cent ($1,489m). Casino Puerto Varas 3.6 per cent ($1,325m). Marina del Sol Calama 2.8 per cent ($1.036m). Dreams Valdivia 2.7 per cent ($1,012m). Gran Casino de Talca 2.6 per cent ($963m). Casino de Pucón 2.4 per cent ($906m). Antay Casino & Hotel 2.4 per cent ($893m). Marina del Sol Osorno 1.8 per cent ($653m). Casino de Arica 1.7 per cent ($615m). Casino de Juegos del Pacífico 1.6 per cent ($600m). Casino de Colchagua 1.4 per cent ($520m). Dreams Coyhaique 1.2 per cent ($463m). Casino Gran Los Ángeles 1.1 per cent ($400m). Enjoy Chiloé 0.7 per cent ($ 273 m). Ovalle Casino Resort S.A. 0.5 per cent ($173m) and in last place came Casino de Natales with 0.4 per cent of the market share ($6m).

In December the municipalities and regions where the casinos are located received a total of $4,127m in gaming tax revenue from the seventeen non municipal casinos while they also generated an additional $1,524m in tax on entrance fees for the state. On top of this amount they also generated $4,036m in gaming VAT.
