Chile – Revenues down by over 14 per cent for casinos in Chile

Gross Gaming Revenues in Chile including revenue generated by the seven municipal casinos stood at $35,169m in July.

This is a decrease of -14.1 per cent compared to the same month last year while the cumulative gross gaming growth rate stood at – one per cent.

The cumulative growth rate for the casinos took into account the period from August 2016 to July 2017, which were then compared with the accumulated income of the period from August 2015 to July 2016.

According to the Chilean Gaming Control Board (SJC) Gross Gaming Revenue for the casinos which already come under the supervision of the SJC stood at $23,693m and made up 67.4 per cent of the total this is -15.6 per cent compared to July and a -1.3 per cumulative growth rate. Meanwhile Gross Gaming Revenue for the seven municipal casinos stood at $11,476 million making up 32.6 per cent. Of the total bingo accounted for 0.1 per cent of gross gaming revenue. Roulette accounted for 5.1 per cent. Card games 11.4 per cent. Dice games 0.3 percent and slots 83.0 per cent.

The number of visitors to the non municipal casinos in July stood at 421,890 -14.6 per cent when compared to July 2016 but recording a cumulative growth rate of -0.6 per cent over the last twelve months. On average visitors spent $56.159 each -1.1 per cent less when compared to July 2016 and -0.7 per cent over the last twelve months. Meanwhile, total visitors to the municipal casinos (not including the casino in Puerto Varas which does not record this information) stood at 234,299 for the month of July. However data for average visitor spend in the municipal casinos is still unavailable at this point.

The amount gambled in March via the 9,969 gaming machines that were in operation in the 17 non municipal casinos amounted to $318,930m. The prizes paid to players reached $299.518m, which made up 93.9 per cent of the total amount wagered. As a result, gross win stood at $19,443m.
In terms of gross gaming income generated by the 17 non municipal casinos Casino de Viña del Mar came in first place with 12.7 per cent ($4,459m) while Sun Monticello came in second place with 11.6 per cent ($ 4,085m). This was followed by Casino Rinconada with 11.1 per cent ($ 3,899m). Marina del Sol Talcahuano 9.1 per cent ($3,185m). Coquimbo 6.5 per cent ($2.270m). Enjoy Antofagasta 5.9 per cent ($2,091m). Casino de Iquique 5.0 per cent ($1,753m). Dreams Temuco 4.8 per cent ($1,688m). Dreams Punta Arenas 4.5 per cent ($1,569m). Casino Puerto Varas 3.7 per cent ($ 1.303m). Dreams Valdivia 2.9 per cent ($1,012m). Gran Casino de Talca 2.8 per cent ($983m). Casino de Pucón 2.7 per cent ($941m). Marina del Sol Calama 2.6 per cent ($922m). In July the municipalities and regions where the casinos are located received a total of $3,847m in gaming tax revenue from the seventeen municipal casinos while they also generated an additional $1,382m in tax on entrance fees for the state. On top of this amount they also generated $3,783m in gaming VAT.
