Japan – Aristocrat offloads pachislot interest

By - 5 June 2015

Aristocrat Leisure has entered into a sale and purchase agreement for the sale of its Japanese operations to Japan-based Fields Corporation.

The sale incorporates Aristocrat’s entire Japan operations, including KK Aristocrat Technologies (KKAT) and KK Spiky.

“The transaction completed concurrently with the signing of the sale and purchase agreement,” Aristocrat Leisure, adding that it followed a ‘strategic review.’

The Japan business had become ‘less relevant to Aristocrat’s predominantly recurring revenue footprint.’

Fields Corp said it “sought a way to manufacture pachislot machines” using the latter company’s assets “such as IPs, raw materials, films and software, also to maintain ‘win-win’ relationship with stakeholders such as licensors of content. In the future, we will release new titles as soon as possible through making the most of these assets, after establishing a cooperative relationship with existing manufacturers,” it added.
