US – MGM National Harbor leads the way in Maryland

Maryland Lottery and Gaming today announced July 2017 revenue numbers for the state’s

Maryland’s six casinos generated $138,756,987 in revenue during July 2017, an increase of $34,907,222, or 33.6 per cent, compared to the July 2016 figure of $103,849,764.

In a year-to-year comparison not including MGM National Harbor, which opened on Dec. 8, 2016, statewide casino revenue in July 2017 decreased by $15,865,020, or 15.3 per cent.

It still led the market though, generating $50,772,243 from both slot machines and table games in July. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day in July at MGM National Harbor was: $282.97 for slot machines, $5,352.87 for banked table games and $1,608.43 for non-banked table games. MGM National Harbor operates 3,126 slot machines and 168 (129 banked and 39 non-banked) table games.

MGM Chairman and CEO Jim Murren suggested last month that a sale to the company’s subsidiary real estate investment trust, MGM Growth Properties was highly likely.

“National Harbor couldn’t be doing better from our perspective and is perfectly positioned to ultimately be owned by MGP,” Mr. Murren said.

Maryland Live Casino totalled $46,846,464 from both slot machines and table games in July. Maryland Live’s gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $263.11 for slot machines, $3,206.25 for banked table games and $768.52 for non-banked table games. July 2017 revenue at Maryland Live decreased by $13,635,091, or 22.5%, from July 2016. Maryland Live Casino operates 3,910 slot machines and 190 (138 banked and 52 non-banked) table games.

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore generated $22,992,004 from both slot machines and table games in July. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $201.79 for slot machines, $1,840.50 for banked table games and $629.39 for non-banked table games. Horseshoe Casino’s July 2017 revenue decreased by $1,993,321, or 8.0%, from July 2016. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore operates 2,202 slot machines and 178 (153 banked and 25 non-banked) table games.

Hollywood Casino Perryville generated $6,603,233 from both slot machines and table games in July. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $221.39 for slot machines, $2,130.42 for banked table games and $416.37 for non-banked table games. Hollywood Casino’s July 2017 revenue decreased by $162,968, or 2.4%, from July 2016. Hollywood Casino Perryville operates 822 slot machines and 21 (13 banked and 8 non-banked) table games.

Casino at Ocean Downs generated $6,459,557 from slot machines in July, and its gross gaming revenue per unit per day was $260.47. Casino at Ocean Downs’ July 2017 revenue decreased by $90,894, or 1.4%, from July 2016. Casino at Ocean Downs operates 800 slot machines and does not have table games.

Rocky Gap Casino Resort generated $5,083,486 from both slot machines and table games in July. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $213.43 for slot machines and $1,322.22 for banked table games. This facility does not have non-banked table games. Rocky Gap Casino Resort’s July 2017 revenue increased by $17,254, or 0.3%, from July 2016. Rocky Gap Casino Resort operates 663 slot machines and 17 banked table games.
